cool waterfalls in your future...
Beneath the shadows of giant cedars is a lush world of mists that invent a truly fantastic world of nature in the balance. Here the waters from the Mountains of the Sidhe carve the landscape and forge fantastic waterfalls that nurture ancient pockets of rainforest.
Fresh Trout with a Wild Berry Salad on the Side
The Monashee provides great wild living with rich opportunities to forage and catch great natural food. It’s a great time of year to serve up a dinner that mixes wild berries with fresh trout.
Today, were told that caribou habitat is being protected – and we’re also being told that more logging and heliskiing can occur because there’s no more caribou.
Are there still caribou in the Monashee?
In 2007, it was the end of the line for the Monashee herd; they were to be considered extinct – at least by way of government policy.
By a void and soundless river
On the outer edge of space,
Where the body comes not ever,
But the absent dream hath place,
Stands a city, tall and quiet,
And its air is sweet and dim;
Never sound of grief or riot
Makes it mad, or makes it grim.

Next Okanagan is a magazine for people who want to be told different stories than the ones they hear every day.
Highland Treks is an adventure and lifestyle journal that explores pilgrimage. This e-magazine seeks to exemplify all the things that define a culture that is attached to the landscape. Here we have spectacular mountain scenery away from the crowds, abundant wildlife, four-season recreation and an opportunity to live in a park-like setting.
For us, the land is about exploration, not exploitation; the land and its remote places inspire us. We celebrate the landscape and the spirit that lives within it – and we seek to protect it because it is part of us.
